Fairhope Alabama: Top 10 Things To Do

We love our hometown of Fairhope, Alabama. It’s a beautiful town on the Eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay and it’s full of lots of fun things to do, see, and enjoy. Fairhope is a vibrant town and there’s always something to enjoy, whether you’re looking for food, art, or just some fun time outside. Today on the blog we thought we’d share our top 10 favorite things to do in Fairhope. We’d love to hear if you enjoy any of the same places – or where your favorites are!

Things to do in Fairhope AL by Goodie and Smith Weddings

Sunset Pointe:

Sunset Pointe is located in the Fly Creek Marina. With a family-friendly atmosphere overlooking the water, it’s one of our family’s favorite places to go! Everyone’s friendly and the locally designed decor is so much fun! Definitely a delicious place to eat in Fairhope.

Refuge Coffee:

Refuge Coffee might be one of our all-time favorite places to work (thanks for the free wifi!) and grab a drink. With delicious coffee, tea, and pastries available, there’s something everyone will enjoy! They recently opened a second location, too!

Page and Palette:

This family owned bookstore has been a landmark in Fairhope, AL for over 40 years. With books lining the walls, sweet gifts for the book lover you know, and their delicious coffee shop – Latte Da – we could get lost in here for hours! Page and Palette works hard to bring amazing literary events to the community in their event space, The Book Cellar, too! The next time you’re ready for the smell of books and somewhere to wander around, check out Page and Palette!

Coffee Loft:

Another delicious place to grab a cup of coffee in Fairhope is the Coffee Loft. Anyone else sensing a theme here? With yummy roasts and a relaxed atmosphere, The Coffee Loft is a great place for a date with someone you love (or yourself!).

Fairhope History Museum:

Located in the heart of Fairhope, this cultural icon houses our history. From our early days to our future days, the story of Fairhope is preserved for generations to come. The museum is located in the beautiful 1928 Spanish style mission building that was once our City Hall. While you are there, hunt down some family history from my husband’s family. His family name’s were the Moyers’ and the Berglin’s. The Berglin’s owned Fairhope Ice and Creamery. The Moyers’ were the first pharmacist in town. It’s worth a stop if you haven’t been in yet!

Eastern Shores Art Center:

The Eastern Shores Art Center is one of our favorite places to spend an afternoon. For 50 years, this incredible resource has existed for our community. The five galleries are free to the public and are ever changing, featuring artists from all over the country. Additionally, they offer classes and workshops to the public.

Orange Street Pier Park:

Along Orange Street Beach, the pier is a great place to walk and take in the water. With a rustic wooden pier, it’s romantic and the perfect spot for some of my favorite portrait sessions! Of course, it’s beautiful to just walk too!

Fairhope Bluff Park:

We love walking through this park at sunset! It’s so beautiful and reminds me how much we love living here. With a rose garden and a gorgeous fountain and statue, it’s an elegant outdoor space for all of us to enjoy the water. Definitely worth a walk if you’re around – and a great location to consider for your Fairhope Alabama engagement session!

The Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa:

Located on Mobile Bay in Point Clear, this stunning resort is a picturesque spot to get away! With amenities, and close access to all of the things we love about Fairhope, it’s a nice little getaway. It’s a beautiful spot for a wedding day, with large windows in the reception hall and elegant outdoor patios.

Mr. Gene’s Beans:

Mr. Gene’s Beans is a staple in Fairhope! Serving ice cream to the community for over 25 years, they definitely know what they’re doing!! Because of their decades of knowledge, they offer delicious flavors and classic toppings, plus coffee for the adults. Everyone will leave Mr. Gene’s Beans with a smile. We know we always do! The best place for ice cream around here, for sure!!

Coastal Community College:

One of Coastal Atlanta Community college’s campuses resides here in Fairhope. The campus is located in downtown Fairhope and is beautiful! We love walking by the campus – and even using it for sessions occasionally!

Seasonal Farmers Market:

The Seasonal Farmers Market runs from May to November in the new library’s parking lot, downtown on Bancroft Street. With fresh food, baked goods, flowers, and other local goods, it’s a great way to spend a few hours on a Thursday night! We love any chance we get to support other local business owners!!

Special Events in Fairhope AL

Throughout the year, there’s also a few special events we love attending. Although this year’s events have been modified or even canceled in response to the COVID-19 crisis, we hope you’ll give them a look when you’re able! Without a doubt, they’re some of the most fun parts of our year!

The Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival takes place in March and exhibitors from all over the country bring their best work to us in the Southeast for judging! This event takes place on the streets in downtown Fairhope and there’s something for everyone! Then, during the summer, Jubilee Hunting occurs! Jubilees are the chance for us to catch lots of fish, shrimp, or crab all at once in a matter of a few hours because of specific conditions in the ocean. We never know when they’ll occur, but once they do, news travels quickly! It’s an incredible phenomenon to witness.

During Mardi Gras, our city becomes even more vibrant. Especially because, we host the Mystic Mutts of Revelry Parade every year, which is a Mardi Gras parade for our canine friends! Participation benefits The Haven for Animals and is always a lot of fun.  Not to be outdone, our Mardi Gras Celebration for our human friends is a blast. It’s something we always LOVE attending! The parades are always stunning and a lot of fun for everyone in attendance. There’s nothing like a good Mardi Gras parade!!
